Frequently Asked Questions

  • Before your first session, you’ll receive a link to my secure client portal where you can complete intake forms, symptom checklists, and background questions. Our first appointment lasts about an hour and gives us time to talk about what’s bringing you in, how your challenges developed, and what you hope to get from therapy. Sessions can take place in person at my Trenton office or virtually for clients across Michigan.

  • If you’ve been feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck in repeating patterns, therapy can help. Many of my clients come in wanting to understand themselves better, build stronger boundaries, and feel less reactive to stress. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes it’s simply about creating more peace and balance in your life.

  • I help adults struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, perfectionism, and the lingering effects of trauma. I also support clients navigating work stress, chronic illness, and life transitions. My approach is affirming and inclusive for women and LGBTQ+ clients.

  • My style is conversational and flexible. I often blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. I also draw from Family Systems and Social Work perspectives to help you understand how your environment and past experiences shape your present. I’m not rigid or overly clinical—you can expect a relaxed, down-to-earth atmosphere.

  • It’s completely normal to feel anxious during uncertain or stressful times. Anxiety becomes a concern when it starts to take over your life, such as keeping you up at night, making it hard to focus, or leading you to avoid things you care about. If worry feels constant or out of proportion, therapy can help you learn new ways to manage it and feel more grounded.

  • Trauma-informed therapy acknowledges that past experiences (big or small) can impact your body, emotions, and relationships today. It’s a gentle, unstructured process that helps you identify how trauma has shaped your beliefs and reactions, and then find ways to heal and reconnect with a sense of safety. We move at your pace, focusing on stability and self-awareness.

  • Yes. I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, and out-of-network clients. You can also pay out of pocket using a debit, credit, or HSA card. I’ll verify your benefits and contact you before your first session if there are any costs beyond your copay.

  • The initial assessment (your first session) is $165, and each ongoing therapy session is $140. These rates are typical for therapy in Michigan and reflect the time spent outside of sessions reviewing notes, creating treatment plans, and supporting your progress.

  • Yes! I provide virtual therapy to adults anywhere in Michigan. Many clients enjoy the convenience of meeting from home or during a lunch break, while others prefer the in-person option at my Trenton office. You’re welcome to choose whichever format fits best for your life and comfort.

  • Everyone’s process looks a little different. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others benefit from ongoing therapy for deeper personal growth. We’ll regularly check in about your goals and progress so therapy continues to feel useful and aligned with your needs.

  • You can schedule your first appointment or consultation through my secure online portal. If you’re unsure whether therapy is right for you, a brief consultation call can help you get a sense of my style and whether we’d be a good fit. I’m here to answer your questions and help you take that first step with confidence.
